These fifth-grade boys give a hilarious performance at their school talent show

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Whether they’re singing, dancing, or showcasing some other skill, it’s wonderful to watch students showcase it at school talent showcases. Even though it’s fair to say that every competitor deserves praise for standing up in front of their peers and giving it their all, every once in a while you’ll see a performance that really stands out, showing creativity that transcends the competitors’ age.

In 2017, four fifth graders from New Braunfels Christian Academy in Texas gave a performance like this during the Elementary Talent Show. In order to maintain their performance’s secrecy till the very end, the students started by covering themselves with a black cloth. The boys’ infant outfits, complete with small prosthetic legs that they could move around with their arms, were exposed after the fabric was pulled apart. There was an immediate outburst of laughter from the crowd, and that was only the beginning.

What followed was even more well-received by the crowd: the boys danced imaginatively and hilariously to several popular songs while wearing the suits. The boys enthusiastically mimed and danced to the chorus of “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift as the opening tune. Carl Douglas’s “Kung Fu Fighting” was the crowd favorite; they cheered and applauded as the four dancers showcased their kung fu moves while dressed in suits.

Of all, this mischievous quartet isn’t the only set of fifth graders to bring the house down at a talent contest; in fact, eight of them did the same thing at Porter Elementary in 2014. The pupils acted out a synchronized swimming routine to classical music on a blue plastic sheet that served as a makeshift pool. Upon completion, the eight pupils were rewarded with well-deserved yells and acclaim from the enthusiastic audience.

These two movies, which have accumulated over 30 million views, demonstrate the wealth of creativity and ability showcased by school talent events. Keeping an audience engaged for even five minutes is a small feat, and not everyone possesses the necessary skills. However, these young individuals effortlessly accomplished it.
