Andress has made a name for herself by seamlessly blending pop and R&B elements into traditional country music, creating a distinctive sound.
That may make her a brave choice for the task of singing the anthem, but she has now admitted that she was actually drunk when she took to the field, breaking her silence with a statement on Tuesday.
“I’m not gonna bulls**t y’all, I was drunk last night,” she wrote on social media after her wildly off-key performance Monday night.
Ingrid Andress set for a stint in rehab
Perhaps more importantly in the bigger picture, Andress has committed to checking into rehab as a result of this episode and getting the help she needs when it comes to alcohol consumption.
This experience led to mentorship from renowned songwriter Kara DioGuardi. After graduating, she moved to Nashville to pursue songwriting, crafting hits for artists such as Bebe Rexha, FLETCHER, and Dove Cameron, including the international hit “Boys” by Charli XCX.
Andress has also achieved success as a solo artist. Her 2020 debut album, “Lady Like,” set the record for the highest streaming debut album by a female country artist.
