Reading Time: 3 minutesDan Hicks, Hannah Storm’s husband, is a doting father of three daughters, a devoted spouse, and an enthusiastic golfer. He has served the NBC Sports Group in some capacity for more than three decades now.
The sound of Dan Hicks’s voice is almost associated with NBC’s coverage of the Olympics. Once upon a time, the two of them, who are now employed by rival networks, shared the screen together. Since the middle of the 1990s, they have been married to Hannah Storm. When he is not in the studio or spending time with his family, you can find him on the golf course.
It does not seem that any of the proud father’s daughters have followed in their renowned parents’ footsteps and became sportscasters. Two of his children have gone on to have successful jobs in the creative sectors, with the youngest of his children having only recently graduated from one of the best schools in the nation.
The football games that Hannah Storm’s alma mater plays in have been called by her husband, a play-by-play announcer.
He was brought up in Tucson, Arizona, by his parents, James E. Hicks and Diane W. Hicks, and given the name John Daniel Hicks at birth. James worked as an operations manager at Hughes Aircraft Company, while Diane worked in the tourism industry. He received a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Arizona where he studied.
Dan started his career in journalism in 1984 at the local Tucson radio station KCEE/KWFM as a young reporter. Later, he went on to work for KVOA-TV as a weekend sports anchor. In 1989, he became a host on CNN Sports Tonight as well as other shows covering college football and college basketball.
The month of June 1992 marked the beginning of his illustrious run as a play-by-play announcer for NBC Sports. As a senior sportscaster, he has covered more than a dozen Olympic Games, the first of which was the Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, Georgia, in the year 1996.
There have been a number of sporting events that have used Dan’s voice, one of which being the NBC Notre Dame Football broadcast. The native of Arizona had a very eventful year in 2022, as he covered both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games in addition to The Players Championship, which marked his 30th year as a sports journalist.
He commented on the absence of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson from the most recent event by saying, “The course is always the biggest star.” In his spare time, the golfer with a handicap of six enjoys the game, and he has been quoted as saying:
“If I’m not working or spending time with my family, you can find me on the golf course.”
Within Dan Hicks’s Universe, Hannah Storm has the title of “Queen.”
The graduate of the University of Arizona and Hannah were married on January 8, 1994, having met each other while working at CNN. On the occasion of the couple’s fifth wedding anniversary in 2021, Dan posted a flashback screen shot of them appearing on television and said that she is “by far” his “better half.”
In May of the same year, he sent her a message on Mother’s Day wishing her “Happy Mother’s Day to the Queen of our universe and the incredible role model for our girls.” His regard for his wife’s accomplishments as a woman in a field dominated by men includes his backing of her professional endeavors.

Ellery Marie Hicks, Hannah Hicks, and Riley Hicks are their three beautiful kids that the sportscaster power couple has produced. Riley, the youngest of the three, was born in January 2001, and she received her degree from Duke University in May 2023.
Ellery was enrolled in the fashion design program at Parson’s New School of Design when she made the decision to leave the school to pursue her interest in sculpting and metals. The jeweler is known for her “wearable sculptures” that she makes under the brand name Ellery Marie.
Hannah is a music manager who came close to having a career as a park ranger and as a wilderness trip leader, as stated in a profile that was published in Billboard. She is one of DJ_Dave’s managers, along with Hannah Peale. She gives “dope” talent a platform, particularly “non-male producers and artists.”
