Meet Jessie Lipskin, an inspiring American woman who had a brilliant idea to transform an old bus into a gorgeous Greyhound RV. After being inspired by a documentary and embracing the concept of minimalism, she embarked on a three-year journey to create her dream home on wheels.
The Inspiration
It all started when Jessie watched the documentary “Trash Warrior,” which showcased a person building a house out of everyday trash. This sparked her enthusiasm for creating an eco-friendly alternative dwelling. Inspired by eco-architect Michael Reynolds, who crafts boats from recyclable materials, Jessie was determined to turn an old bus into a comfortable and sustainable home.
Collaborating with Friends
Although Jessie had no construction or carpentry skills, she gathered a team of friends, acquaintances, and even some experts to help her with the transformation. Together, they stripped the bus of its furniture and trim, leaving a blank canvas to work with.
A Home with Everything
Despite the challenges, Jessie’s vision started to take shape. She designed a spacious living area, a functional kitchen, a well-appointed bathroom, and a cozy bedroom. Plus, she created clever storage spaces, including a walk-in closet and room for a mini-library.

Eco-Friendly Design
As a nature lover, Jessie was committed to using only eco-friendly materials for the interior design. She incorporated natural wood, repurposed materials, and salvaged items throughout the bus. Recycled materials and wood were used for insulation, coatings, and various details, while energy-efficient systems and appliances were installed to minimize the environmental impact.

Aesthetic Appeal
To enhance the visual appeal of her eco-home on wheels, Jessie installed beautiful parquet floors and painted the walls white to create a bright and inviting space. She chose to keep the original bus windows, allowing natural light to flood the entire house. Additionally, original paintings and pictures lend a personal touch to the interior décor.

Well-Equipped Kitchen
The functional areas in Jessie’s mobile home were carefully planned and designed. The kitchen boasts a natural wood countertop, an oven and stove, an energy-efficient washing machine, a refrigerator with a freezer, a water heater, and a gas tank. Thoughtful cabinet and shelf designs ensure easy movement in the kitchen area.

Comfortable Bedroom
The cozy bedroom at the back of the bus features a simple and streamlined design. Natural light fills the space through the bus windows, which are covered with thick velvet curtains. Underneath a nice double bed with an orthopedic mattress, there is ample storage space. Next to the bed, a small library adds a unique touch to the room’s decor.
Sustainable Living
Jessie’s eco-friendly design didn’t stop at the interior. She developed a self-contained sewage system for the bus, ensuring efficient water usage. Used water and waste drain into a large tank beneath the bus, which can be emptied in designated areas. With a separate tank for freshwater and all the necessary plumbing equipment, the bus is fully equipped with showers, sinks, and toilets.
In just three years, Jessie Lipskin transformed a dilapidated bus into a fashionable and comfortable residence on wheels. Her incredible journey showcases the power of determination, collaboration, and a commitment to sustainable living.
